Dublin

Love Dublin. It looks like London and Rome. Lots of pubs and restaurants. Landed in Dublin around 9:30 which is 4:30 am Michigan time. Temperature was sunny and in the 50's, lovely. Went to the Brooks Hotel which is right in the Temple Bar area which Is in the middle of Dublin. We dropped off our luggage, had a long conversation with one of the hotel staff then left for Trinity College for a tour. We saw the Book of Kells which are the 4 books of the Old Testament, Mathew, Mark, Luke, John. We also saw Trinity College Library, since 1592, and is the largest library in Ireland. Then we took a hop on/hop off bus and toured the city. We stopped at the Guinness Brewery, saw how Guinness was made and then went up to the top of the building for a free Guiness and a view of the city. Sandy and I don't care for Guiness, so the guys drank ours. Then to a pub to eat dinner and then to a Musical Pub Crawl where a fiddler and guitar player sang Irish songs for 2 1/2 hrs. We traveled to 3 different pubs with tons of character. Lastly we went to a Tapas bar which was dark, small, with many, many candles throughout the cozy room. We finished the day with a snack and a glass of wine. Lovely day and hotel. The people are the friendliest that you ever want to meet. They bend over backwards helping you and truly love Americans. All through the day the people in Ireland would strike up long conversations with us. Getting up early to pick up the car to travel west to Westport.
